Work Across Markets

How one sign-in works when your company runs several markets in OpsVara, how to switch between them, how to add a teammate who already works in another market, and what stays separate per market.

A company that runs several markets, say Tallahassee, Phoenix and Las Vegas, has one OpsVara company per market. Each keeps its own customers, schedule, books, time zone and tax rate, because those really are different from one market to the next. What is shared is the people: one email and one password sign a person in to every market they belong to, and they move between markets without signing out.

Markets are linked by OpsVara

Your markets are grouped into one organization when your company is set up. Ask support to link a new market. Until a market is linked, its Team screen works exactly as a single company's does.

Switch Between Markets

The company name at the foot of the left sidebar is a menu for anyone with an account in two or more markets. For everyone else it is a label, as it has always been.

  1. Open the company menu

Click the company name at the bottom of the sidebar. The menu is titled Your companies and lists every market you belong to, with your roles in each. Your current market is checked.

  2. Pick a market

Click the one you want. The page reloads in that market, with that market's customers, schedule and settings, and with the roles you hold there. A market marked suspended still opens so an admin can reach its billing; one marked unavailable cannot be opened until its subscription is renewed.

Your next sign-in lands in the market you switched to last.

On the mobile app, open Profile. The Company row shows the market you are in; when you belong to more than one, tapping it opens Switch company. The jobs list and time clock reload for the market you choose.

Add a Teammate Who Already Works in Another Market

A company admin or office manager can give someone from a sibling market an account in this one. They keep the password they already use; only their roles in this market are new.

  1. Open Team and start a new account

Go to SettingsTeam and click Add User.

  2. Pick the person

At the top of the form, Add From Another Market lists people who work in your other markets and are not on this team yet. Choose one. Their name and email fill in, the email is locked, and the password field disappears with the note "They keep the password they already use. Choose their roles for this market below."

  3. Set their roles here and create the account

Choose the roles they should have in this market. Roles are per market: an owner in Phoenix can be an office manager in Las Vegas. Fill in anything else the form asks for, then click Create User.

Someone who is not in any of your markets is added the usual way, with a temporary password. An email that belongs to a company outside your organization is refused.

Because the books stay per market, the number on an invoice, a report total or a customer list is always one market's. Switch markets to see another's.

Passwords and Removing Someone

There is one password per person. Change it under SettingsSecurity, or through a reset link from the sign-in page, and it changes for every market you belong to. A reset email is branded with the market you used last.

Deactivating a teammate under SettingsTeam removes them from that market only. They keep their accounts in the other markets, and if they were signed in to the market you removed them from, they are signed out and can sign back in to one of the others. A teammate's email cannot be changed from one market's Team screen while other markets share it; ask support.

Verify It Worked

Sign in once, open the company menu, and confirm every market you expect is listed. Switch to one, check the company name at the foot of the sidebar and the customers you see, then sign out and sign back in: you land in the market you switched to last.

Frequently asked questions

I run three markets. Do my people need three emails?

No. One email is one sign-in. A person who works in more than one market has an account in each, all behind the same email and password, and picks the market from the company menu at the foot of the sidebar. Someone who works in one market never sees the menu.

Where do I land when I sign in?

In the market you used last. Switch to another market and the next sign-in lands there instead.

I changed my password in one market. Does it change everywhere?

Yes. There is one password per person. Changing it under Settings → Security, or through a reset link, changes it for every market you belong to.

We removed someone from one market. Can they still sign in to the others?

Yes. Deactivating a teammate under Settings → Team removes them from that market only. If they were signed in to that market at the time they are signed out and can sign back in, landing in a market where they still have an account.

Can a customer or a report span markets?

Not yet. Customers, sites, jobs, invoices, quotes, inventory and reports belong to one market each. Switch markets to see the other market's books.

How do our markets get linked in the first place?

OpsVara links them when your company is set up. Ask support to link a new market; once it is linked, its Team screen offers Add From Another Market.
